The sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Grazie is the complex where Padre Pio lived from 1916 until his death in 1968. Next to the Capuchin friary stand two churches: the small sixteenth-century church, intimate and silent, and the larger church consecrated in 1959, built to welcome the ever-growing crowds of pilgrims.
Here the saint celebrated Mass, heard confessions for hours every day and met the faithful. The old church still preserves the choir and the rooms linked to the most important moments of his religious life. From the forecourt you can reach all the other pilgrimage sites on foot.
